Pros and cons of D'Scales app for iPhone and iPad
D'Scales app good for
great app... every scale imaginable plus simple to use and nice sound too - highly recommended :)
Tested all the apps. This one is perfect. Worth the price compared to all the free or pseudo free apps
The app is good but, to get 5 stars must have two small-big things: play-along function and visualize any scales on a single string...Just an individual string! This changes will be great to study! It´s my only critique.
I love this. For 2 bucks it contains every scale you can imagine and its fully interactive. Keep up the great work planet waves. Also check out chordmaster
5 stars anyways, great product very well done, but I hope that Planet Waves will come with a patch soon to correct that annoying bug. Other than that Its the most useful scale reference tool I own. Good work
This app is invaluable, especially for the incredibly small price tag. Disappointed that theres no drop tuning and 7&8 string guitar on here, but Id suffice to say thats on future updates (fingers crossed for us ERG guys!) Great resource regardless though.
Some bad moments
I use alternate tunings, but no playable scales show up. I have contacted them twice in six months. Still no scales. Why offer tunings if they dont work. There must be better apps for scales.
The old version of this and Chordmaster were much better, in too many ways to list here. I would provide direct feedback to the company if I could, but the in-app support link is broken.
So they took the time to remake an all new interface and change the graphical apearance of the app but still fail to provide alternate tuning. Not even D drop work, come on, thats so lazy. Great app if you use standard tuning though.
Not only the design is awful, but the app does not work at all. Horrible.
Although it claims to support a handful of alternate tunings, most scales are unavailible for anything but standard tuning. I bought this to have a reference for scales in DADGAD and Open D, but for almost every scale I select while using these tunings I get the message: "No playable scales". This program would be awesome if they fixed this and gave us the option of creating our own custom tunings. As it is right now, its a good program if you only play in standard tuning.
Planet Waves informed me that it will be fixed in next update, but no date was given.
