D'Scales App Reviews

Although it claims to support a handful of alternate tunings, most scales are unavailible for anything but standard tuning. I bought this to have a reference for scales in DADGAD and Open D, but for almost every scale I select while using these tunings I get the message: "No playable scales". This program would be awesome if they fixed this and gave us the option of creating our own custom tunings. As it is right now, its a good program if you only play in standard tuning.

Planet Waves has done it again! Perfect compliment to Chordmaster. Just a few monor tweaks & improvements will make this close to PERFECT!

This app is great! I read through all the reviews before I bought it. This app works well and has a great library of scales and modes. I think its beyond a bargain for 1.99. One important note: the alternate tunings work just fine for me, but I had to look at the preferences. In the preferences, theres a setting for "allow big stretches." If you turn that on, all the alternate tunings come to life. I dont think you should have to go there to make it work. Other than that one oversight, the app is great and well worth your time.

This app and Chord Master are extremely high quality products!!! I am amazed they are only 1.99! 2 References in your hand anytime anywhere! In my opinion with these, there is no need for any others for reference!

but needs the option for c# standard tuning please!

This is a great app for anyone who wants to become a better guitarist. I use this thing very often and I love it. Buy it now!

please fix for the next update.......

The fret dots being the same color as some of the notes drives me crazy. Makes it much harder to visualize the patterns. They should be white, or something other than yellow/black at least. Other than that, brilliant!!

Soooo helpful!!! Would love option to see note and interval at same time.

A great app! Only thing needed is the ability to have a full view on the fretboatd not just 5 frets at a time . Please add in next update.

Awesome app! Ive only had it for a few days but Ive been using it nonstop since its been downloaded. One thing I would like for this app to do that it currently does not, however, is play the scales in a loop so that I can play along with it for excercise. As it is, it will only play the scale on the screen up and back down once for an example.

Nice graphics and excellent design. But so frustrating that - despite having a "stretch" fingering option - it doesnt really stretch at all. If you want beginner 4 fret box scale patterns this is for you. A jazz or even serious rock player would quickly look elsewhere. Oh well, couldve been a 5 star app.

Will they ever update drop d? I mean nobody plays in drop d anyways, right? (sarcasm) why even have it as an option? I have had this app for months and still no update for it. This was just a quick buck for planet waves. Look elsewhere for scales. Poor app.

The program comes up in E major pentatonic and stays there. No real value there.

It now works great after last update. Im using an iPhone 4. It would be nice if we can tag our favorite scales into a folder of some sort. Otherwise, this is a great app!
